After 20 years of wandering, making things and learning from extraordinary people along the way, Simrel Achenbach settled in Brooklyn to form Desciencelab, a design/build workshop in 2000. The intention was to synthesize the history of design with the process of making and craftsmanship to create timeless objects and spaces, allowing the process of making to distill an idea to its simplified and logical resolution. Whether it’s a single piece of furniture or an entire house, the intention is to create a holistic experience where every component is connected by a common thread. We feel that this is what makes things timeless, with our clients continuing the narrative through the act of living.
